Mr Patel performs surgery to surgically excise the ingrown toe nail. This is slightly different from using just a chemical to ‘kill’ the cells that lead to ingrown toe nails. He performs this procedure under sedation and local anesthetic with an anaesthetist to make the procedure more comfortable for the patient. When surgically excising the nail matrix (matrixectomy) the rates of recurrence are much less. This procedure is done as a day case.
